NAHB Legislative Conference

On Tuesday, June 5th,eighteen members of the Nebraska State Home Builders Association flew in to Washington, D. C. to attend the National Association of Home Builders Legislative Conference on Capitol Hill. More than 700 home builders visited Capitol Hill and called on Congress to make housing and homeownership a national priority and to take concrete steps to get housing back on track in order to create jobs and keep the economy moving forward.

This grassroots effort on behalf of the housing industry allows our members to meet directly with our congressional representatives and to educate them on the importance that housing plays in the overall recovery of our economy.

Members from Kearney in attendance were NSHBA Treasurer, Stan Poff of Kearney Concrete, President of theWest Central Nebraska Home Builders Association,  Gene Knaggs of Knaggs Construction and President-Elect of the West Central Nebraska Home Builders Association, Andy Spracklen of Spracklen/Russell Construction.

What a great Parade this is going to be this year!  Usually we pray for good weather but this year I think if it rains most will want to do a happy dance!

September 15 & 16, 2012 The Kearney Area Builders Association is proud to announce that the 2012 Parade of Homes/Tour of Remodelers Homes will be September 15th &16th. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and on Sunday we are open noon to 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available at Showcase Cabinets/Jacobi's Carpet One, Designer Craft, Garrett Tires, Treads & Appliances for $4.00 and the day of at the door of each Parade home for $5.00. If you are a builder and are interested in putting a home on the Parade or a builder with a completed remodel project please call the KABA office at 236-5151.  The cost is $300 (early bird registration) or $400 (after July 30th) for a Parade Home or $150 (early bird registration) or $200 (after July 30th) for a remodel.  You must be a member of KABA to place a home on the Parade and a remodel on the Tour.  Membership dues are $360 annually. Dear Members, It is time for our annual Membership Drive.  We are kicking off the Drive by having a Membership "Rush" Party on June 19th at Brandt's Barn. ALL MEMBERS ARE WELCOMED! WCNHBA encourages each member to bring a potential new member with you as your guest. The Membership Committee is grilling steaks for EVERYONE!  So come hungry because there will be PLENTY of food.   There will be lots of fun activities. Bring your golf clubs (driver and chipper) and some old golfballs as you will have a chance to chip golfballs into a floating tire in the middle of the lake and have a chance to win the longest drive. Anyone want to try Ladder Ball or Bocce Ball? Here is your opportunity! Any new member signed up (check and application given to the committee) by the  end of the evening of June 19 will   pay just $300 for their dues the first year.  That is a $60 discount!  Does your potential member have other plans that evening?  Just bring his signed application and check to the Party!
